Intrauterine insemination (IUI) in Jeddah
IUI is a relatively simple fertility treatment. Prepared sperm are placed inside the womb around the time of ovulation. Your doctor decides whether it suits your case.
What IUI is
A semen sample is prepared in the lab to select the most active sperm. These are then placed in the womb through a thin tube, close to ovulation.
Who it may suit
- Unexplained difficulty conceiving
- Mild ovulation problems
- Some cases of mildly reduced sperm quality
- Other situations your doctor identifies after tests
How it works
- Tests for both partners, including checking the tubes
- Ovulation monitoring by ultrasound, sometimes with medication
- Sample preparation in the lab
- Insemination in the clinic, usually a short procedure
- A pregnancy test after the time your doctor advises
What to expect
The procedure is brief and may feel similar to a pelvic examination. If pregnancy does not happen after several attempts, your doctor will discuss the next step with you.
